Job Description

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center is seeking a skilled and dependable Field Research Technician I to support scientific research in a field setting. This position is ideal for candidates who are willing to work hard in outdoor conditions supporting agricultural field experiments. The technician will assist in field management activities including hand weeding, and plant and soil sample collection. This position will be Monday - Wednesday, through the end of September.
Responsibilities:
Support research projects by performing field management tasks such as hand weeding, watering and general maintenance under general supervision Collect, and prepare plant, soil, or microbial samples in accordance with established protocols Receive and inspect raw materials; help manage inventory of lab supplies and equipment Maintain clean workspaces by cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces Follow all safety, biohazard, and compliance protocols as outlined by the Danforth Center Collaborate with scientists and other technicians to ensure smooth lab operations Participate in occasional training sessions and contribute to team meetings and discussions Other duties as assigned Required knowledge, skills, and abilities: Basic understanding of hand tools Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow directions Good problem-solving, and organizational skills Ability to work independently while also contributing to team-based research Strong communication and interpersonal skills Willingness to learn and adapt to new lab technologies and techniques Willingness to work outside the majority of the time, in the Missouri summer weather Live the Danforth Center values:

Associate's degree in biology, chemistry, plant science, or related field OR High school diploma/GED OR 2 years of experience working outdoors
