No County Jefferson Street Address 17893 Game Farm Road City Brownville StateNY Zip Code13634 Duties Description Primary responsibilities include: Data collection, organization, entry, and QAQC for the Statewide Fisheries database (SWFDB) using the Microsoft Access. Perform quality control to ensure data entry accuracy and work with survey authorities and the SWFDB Committee to correct errors. Use ArcMap and GIS to create shapefiles and maps to create visual representations of fisheries data. Additional activities include, but are not limited to: assist fisheries staff with fisheries surveys (e.g., netting assessments, boat and backpack electrofishing); assist with fish stocking and egg collections; brook trout pond management activities including sign posting; equipment maintenance; site assessments at public boating and non-boating access sites; and assisting with public outreach events and presentations. d work times may vary, some weekend and holiday work may be needed. Technicians work 40 hours per week. Technicians must effectively interact and communicate with the public as needed. Must work effectively both independently and as a team member. Must have a valid driver's license. Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography. Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 9/30/2026. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds. Must have certification to operate motorized boats or personal watercrafts at time of appointment or within 2 weeks of appointment.
