Onsite Role Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to support laboratory research activities focused on the development and execution of investigative toxicology (iTox) predictive assays and workflows to enable improved safety translation to the clinic. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the technical needs in a lab as well as significant hands-on experience with standard/bespoke cell culture and in vitro cell biology techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop novel approach methods (NAMs), including predictive 2D/3D models for nonclinical safety assessments. Independently perform experiments related to in vitro/ex vivo 2D/3D assays using lab techniques that include cell viability/cell death, flow cytometry, primary cell culture, animal sample processing, molecular and cell isolation, immunofluorescence, plate-based reporter assays, and ELISA/Luminex. Support in vivo study design, data analysis, study coordination, and sample management. Analyze, interpret, and accurately document assay/study results in an electronic lab notebook or other technical reporting formats. Work independently and collaboratively in a team to ensure timely and accurate data analysis and communication to support decision-making and contribute to high-quality study reports. Support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab instruments and contribute to the evaluation and adoption of new technologies for enhanced toxicity prediction, compound screening, and development of translational safety biomarkers. Manage day-to-day experimental/study-related activities in the lab and work effectively with Contract Research Organizations (CROs), study operations, internal scientists, and subject matter experts (SMEs). Maintain a safe and organized lab environment and support development and/or review of protocols, SOPs, policies, and guidelines.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related scientific discipline, with 5+ years of relevant industry experience or 3+ years of postgraduate working experience. Hands-on experience in operating and maintaining cell culture and standard lab instruments. Experience in maintaining lab environment, lab infrastructure, and sample management. Experience with animal sample processing and advanced cell culture techniques for immortalized cell lines, primary cells (including PBMCs), and/or iPSC cells. Cell and molecular biology methods, including flow cytometry, Luminex/MSD, ELISA, and cell viability/death assays. Ability to conduct multiple laboratory and project tasks efficiently. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with flexibility. Highly organized, detail-oriented, excellent record-keeping skills, and being able to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with small molecules and targeted oncology therapeutics of all modalities. Experience working in a matrixed team environment at a biotech/pharma company or CRO. 3D assays, data analytics/ in silico experience is a plus.
