Job Description

The Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position in Dr. Tingting Xiang's lab and Dr. Robert Jinkerson's lab to conduct research on the functional genomics of algae and symbiotic systems. This is an open research area position, and the department welcomes applicants from all areas of Bioengineering who demonstrates strong potential for impactful research and interdisciplinary collaboration. Applicants must hold a PhD in molecular biology, with a solid background of genetics, cell biology, genomics, microbiology, bioinformatics, plant biology, marine biology. The candidate must also have research experience with molecular and/or cellular biology techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in functional genomics in algae and/or plant systems Experience in molecular and cell biology and/or biochemistry Background in genome editing approaches (e.g., CRISPR/Cas or related technologies) Interest in or experience with artificial photosynthesis or photosynthetic engineering Demonstrated ability to design and execute independent research projects Strong communication and collaboration skills The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding. Salary will range from $69,073 to $82,836 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with University of California guidelines see: ) UCOP Compensation Salary Scales .
