Job Description

Postdoctoral Researcher in Plant Genomics We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join our tropical fruit genomics team at
USDA ARS
Daniel K. Inouye U.S. Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center located at Hilo, Hawaii.
Required education and experience:
Ph.D. in plant genetics and genomics, plant biology or closely related field with demonstrated experience in plant genomics, bioinformatics, or related field. Experience with advanced sequencing technologies. Experience with bioinformatics tools and methods commonly used in plant genomics research. Experience in population genetic analysis. Familiar with molecular biology techniques and preparation of genome sequencing libraries. Familiar with NGS and high-throughput genotyping technologies and identification of candidate genes affecting traits of interest. Experience with marker-trait association analysis such as QTL or GWAS analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Explore population genetics and evolutionary dynamics to understand the origins and diversification of tropical fruits. Conduct comprehensive analysis of genomic features and genetic diversity in tropical fruit germplasm collections. Develop and optimize bioinformatics pipelines and tools for analyzing large genomics datasets. Perform comparative genomics to identify genetic variations associated with important traits such as disease resistance and fruit quality. Contribute to the management of large genomics datasets.
