Job Description

Position Summary The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is seeking a highly motivated and independent research assistant to join the laboratory of Dr . Andrea Gonzales to support ongoing investigations into the role of The 2 cytokines in atopic dermatitis across companion animals and humans. An emphasis on understanding neuro-immune interactions to identify molecular mechanisms underlying atopic disease is also a focus in the hopes of identifying novel therapeutic targets in companion animals and humans. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the One Health concept in a collaborative and dynamic environment. Minimum Requirements Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through completion of one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Master's of science in Biology, Animal Sciences, Pharmacology, Toxicology or related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research methodologies , writing reports, supervision, software, data interpretation and handling; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Desired Qualifications At least 5 years experience working in a research lab setting; experience with cell culture techniques and ability to work with cell lines OR primary cells across species; experience with plate-based screening, phenotypic assays and immunoassays using a variety of technologies; cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (e.g. western blot, RNA, DNA from cells and/or tissues, western blotting, PCR, etc.); imaging techniques; data presentation and statistical analysis.
