YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position works collaboratively with the Genomics & Sequencing team members of Precision Genomics. The role will be responsible for delivering weekly targets for high quality RNA extractions from diverse material utilizing liquid handler-based automation and specialized laboratory equipment. The role will utilize technical knowledge to assess extraction quality and troubleshoot when required. The primary responsibilities of this role, R D Specialist II, are to:

• Complete various lab experiments and processes in alignment with the weekly work queue and prioritized by the team;Solve routine problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning of diverse procedures within specialized laboratory technology;
• Be skilled in organizing and reporting specialized reports, including analyzing and interpreting the results of experiments, production KPIs, cost/benefit analysis, and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
• Thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high quality deliverables, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and have proven initiative in some categories of accomplishments, either individually or as part of a group;
• Prioritize and coordinate work within a large team and provides training to contingent workforce; maintaining detailed record keeping and required documentation;
• Achieve commitment to safety, compliance, and stewardship through protocols, robust documentation, and best practices;
• Have primary or shared responsibility for a specialized laboratory technology;
• Be accountable for cross functional work in multiple platforms/process areas;
• Solve problems of routine to moderate scope, optimizes workflows, validate methods using multiple data sources, and solve problems with others using multiple data sources;
• Use specialized scientific techniques to conduct experiments and process improvements;
• Adhere to established protocols and techniques;
• Operate and troubleshoot instrumentation;
• Perform a variety of experiments with accuracy; demonstrates knowledge of specialized laboratory and scientific techniques;
• Take initiative in keeping current with developments in specialized areas.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma;
• Strong molecular biology acumen with the ability to independently design experiments and analyze data;
• Demonstrated experience with DNA extraction or RNA extraction, qPCR/TaqMan, and/or next gen sequencing library creation;
• High throughput laboratory automation experience with mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting automation;
• Must possess agility and adaptability to keep up with changing company priorities and balance multiple projects simultaneously;
• Proficiency with LIMS systems, organization and sample tracking, data analysis, and visualization software;
• Ability to build strong relationships and networks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field with 2 years of related experience in academia or industry; OR
• Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field with minimum years of relevant experience; OR
• High School Diploma with 10 years of relevant experience.

This posting will be available for application until at least May 27, 2026. Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $60,000.00 to$ 90,000.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
