Posting Text The Chen Lab in the Division of Biomedical and Translational Sciences (BaTS) at the University of South Dakota (USD) Sanford School of Medicine (SSOM) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the field of Cardiovascular Regenerative Engineering, Medicine, and Technology, with a translational research focus. The fellow will work with Dr. William C.W. Chen and his team at USD and have the opportunity to conduct research in collaborating laboratories at world-leading institutions, such John's Hopkins University, Harvard University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The candidate must have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Biological/Biomedical Engineering, Molecular/Cell Biology, Synthetic Biology, or a related biological, medical, or engineering field with excellent oral and writtenmunication skills. The candidate must have solid wet-lab training and expertise in molecular biology techniques and mammalian cellular disease models, particularly in vitro models using cardiomyocytes or stem cells. Other preferred expertise or research experience includes molecular cloning, primary cardiac cell isolation, genome editing, high-throughput screening, transgenic animal models, rodent cardiac surgery, and rodent echocardiography. Preference will be given to candidates with background or experience in cardiac inflammatory/immune responses, metabolic perturbation/stability, and/or cardioprotective intervention. The Postdoctoral Fellow will design, conduct, and interpret experiments andanize and publish the original research results in research journals. The Fellow will also support the lab manager and assume certain general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory. The Fellow is expected to provide supervision and guidance to junior lab members, including graduate and undergraduate students. The division is based in the Lee Medical Building located on the USD main campus in Vermillion, SD. The USD School of Medicine has announced the move of the first 18 months of the M.D. program and the Division of Biomedical and Translational Sciences from Vermillion to Sioux Falls.
