The lab focuses on studying enhancer function and epigenetic mechanisms in gene regulation during cancer progression and neuronal aging. Selected candidates will conduct highly interdisciplinary and collaborative research on one or more of the following projects, using human cell lines, mouse models, and clinical samples. In addition to conducting research, lab technicians will assist with routine laboratory operations and receive training in research techniques and experimental design: (1) Explore the function and mechanism of signaling-regulated enhancers in cancer and neuronal diseases, and understand how enhancers are regulated by the crosstalk of different signaling pathways including sex hormones, Hippo signaling, inflammation signals and metabolic signals; (2) Decipher the epigenetic and chromatin 3D level changes in enhancers upon developmental and/or pathological stimuli or during therapy resistance acquisition; (3) Identify diagnostic/prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for cancer/neuronal diseases and develop drugs for pre-clinical studies and potential clinical applications.
