Degree:
Entomology; or a reled discipline of the biological or physical sciences th included least 16 semester hours in entomology. OR Combinion of educion and experience: courses equivalent to a major th included course work in entomology; or a reled discipline of the biological or physical sciences th included least 16 semester hours in entomology, plus approprie experience or additional educion.
Evaluion of Educion:
Applicants with major fields of study in biology, zoology, or invertebre zoology may fully meet the basic educional requirements if their academic preparion included substantive instruction (including approprie laborory and field work) in basic general entomology, taxonomy, physiology, ecology, general and organic chemistry, general physics, and mhemics or stistics th provided some training in the analysis of variables. Additional Requirements In addition to meeting the basic requirements described above, applicants must also meet additional qualificion requirements as sted below. GS-12 : Applicants must demonstre least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or possess an equivalent combinion of gradue level educion and experience. Gradue educion must be directly reled to the work of the position and have equipped applicants with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Specialized experience is experience directly reled to the position to be filled. The specialized experience requirement for the GS-12 level of this position is experience conducting independent research reled to control and surveillance techniques for New World screwworm, biting fly, and tick pests of livestock and wildlife. GS-13 : Applicants must demonstre least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience directly reled to the position to be filled. The specialized experience requirements for the GS-13 level of this position is experience conducting independent research reled to control techniques for New World screwworm, biting fly, and tick pests of livestock and wildlife, independently publishing research reled to entomology, microbiology, biology, or biochemistry in peer-reviewed journals as first or corresponding author; and collaboring with internal and external stakeholders on research of mutual interest. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience th transles directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To further support your qualificions, it is strongly recommended th you submit a one-page abstract of your MS thesis and/or Ph.D. dissertion.
