Salary Salary:
Up to $48,649 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications. This is a grant-funded position and is contingent on additional grant funding. Hours per
Week Exempt Position:
40 hours per week. Required Application Materials Resume is required. Cover Letter is preferred.
Essential Functions Position Overview:
This position is for a research technician assist with in vitro ADME assays and in vivo PK studies in the Preclinical Pharmacology Core at UTSA.
Job Duties:
Execution of common in vitro ADME assays. Handling, dosing, and blood sampling of rodents for PK studies. Mammalian cell culture and oversight of cell line inventory. Sample preparation and analysis by
LC-MS/MS.
Data analysis and visualization using Prism Graphpad. Train and supervise students working in the Pharmacology Core. Required Qualifications Masters's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or related field. Experience in a laboratory research environment in biochemistry, cell biology, chemistry, or related field. 2+ years experience with mammalian cell culture, managing cell culture stocks, Western blotting, PCR, and electrophoresis. 2+ years experience with handling, injection, oral gavage, surgery, husbandry, and blood sampling of rodent species. An additional 2 years of experience may substitute for the Master's degree . Preferred Qualifications PhD degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or related field. Working knowledge of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) and its role in the drug discovery pipeline. Proficiency in data analysis and visualization using Microsoft Excel and Prism Graphpad. Experience with bacterial transformation, plasmid amplification and isolation, and mammalian cell line transfection. Working Conditions The primary work location for this position will be on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Additional Information UTSA is a tobacco free campus. This is a security sensitive position.
