Alabama Power Job Summary Southern Company Services is seeking an experienced Chemical Technician III with 10-15 years of laboratory or industrial chemical experience to support chemical analysis, water quality testing, and laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will perform chemical testing, maintain laboratory equipment, ensure regulatory compliance, and support production and environmental processes in a safe and efficient manner. Key Responsibilities Perform chemical and water quality testing using approved laboratory methods. Prepare chemical solutions and safely handle, store, and dispose of chemicals. Monitor laboratory processes and troubleshoot testing or production issues. Maintain, calibrate, and operate laboratory instruments and equipment. Document, analyze, and report laboratory test results. Maintain chemical inventory and laboratory supplies. Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and environmental regulations. Train junior technicians and support continuous process improvement. Support deionized water production and water treatment operations when required. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science with at least 12 semester hours of Chemistry.
  • 10-15 years of laboratory, chemical, or industrial experience. Experience with laboratory instrumentation, calibration, and analytical testing.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with boiler/water chemistry analysis. Experience in water treatment plants or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Certified Chemical Technician (CCT) or Certified Laboratory Safety Professional (CLSP) certification.
  • Knowledge of deionized water production and mechanical equipment maintenance. Preferred Skills Chemistry
