Lab Technician |
Recent Chemistry Grads Location:
Agoura Hills, CA Shift:
2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 1:00 AM), Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday Position Summary The Lab Technician performs technical laboratory activities related to testing human specimens and accurately records laboratory data. All work is conducted under the technical oversight and direct supervision of a California-licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Essential Job Duties Assist in specimen testing under direct and constant supervision, following established procedures and California regulatory restrictions while working under the technical oversight of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Utilize automated and/or digital devices such as timers and thermometers as required. Record dates of receipt, in-use status, and expiration for all reagents, kits, controls, and standards used in assigned assays. Ensure all materials are within expiration prior to use. Perform pipetting using pre-set, calibrated, and approved automatic devices or fixed-volume dispensers. Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) on laboratory equipment under direct supervision. Properly document PM activities, perform minor repairs as appropriate, and immediately notify designated personnel of issues requiring complex repairs. Develop an increasing understanding of laboratory medicine and the clinical significance of laboratory results. Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety requirements established by Esoterix, CLIA, CAP, and other applicable regulatory bodies. Document all activities using good documentation practices, including but not limited to preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting records, and quality control documentation to ensure regulatory compliance. Follow additional job-related instructions and perform other duties as assigned by department management. Required Education / Degree Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related scientific field from an accredited institution. Coursework must include a minimum of 12 semester hours of chemistry, preferably including at least one course in organic chemistry. Must have experience with manual slide reading. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Agoura Hills, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.40/hr.
