Job Description
Purpose of Position/Summary:
The Chemical/Env. Technician 1 will be responsible for performing paint tank analysis and chemical analysis on production lines using approved methods. This position will also record daily pH and flow of waste water discharge ensuring that KYB conforms to all State and local regulations.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Must follow all DOT regulations for proper storage and handling of waste both non-hazardous and hazardous; Must stay current on all DOT training; Perform required inventory of chemicals and supplies to ensure desired quantities are maintained; Must understand the hazards of chromic acid; Ability to monitor RO system pressures and flow rates; Responsible for recording daily pH and flow levels; Must be able to read, record and understand press drops; Must possess the ability to correctly adjust Plater tank volumes as needed; Must know the E-Coat Pre-Treatment process and important quality points; Possess the knowledge to perform chrome and sulfate analysis and make adjustments according to specifications; Follow all work instructions and perform essential quality checks as assigned; Ability to make minor machine adjustments to production equipment as assigned; Responsible for following all rules and safety guidelines as established; Understands theSTOP, CALL, WAIT
process; Pass and maintain fork lift operator licenses; Possess knowledge of 5S process and maintain a clean and organized work area; Possess knowledge and understand what Safety Critical means; Ability to be a team player, and assist other operators as needed; Knowledge of DI water system; Ability to read and understand valving and proper pressure settings; Understand and follow proper MDMS labeling; Other duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor or Manager on an as needed basis. This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED from an accredited organization. This position requires the ability to work safely and with urgency to ensure minimal impact to production cycle times. This position requires effective communication with co-workers and other associates as needed.Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This position does not have any subordinate associates reporting to it.Difficulty of Work:
Difficulty of work consists of the ability to make decisions without supervisory assistance. This position requires the ability to work unsupervised. Communication with members of management will be essential in this position.Responsibility:
The Chemical/Env. Technician 1 will have minimal autonomy while working within the assigned area. The position will require information from the Team Leader and direct Supervisor as well as other Manufacturing departments, Team Leaders, and Supervisors, Maintenance and the Quality department.Personal Work Relationships:
Personal work relationships consist of working with team members, Team Leaders, Supervisors, and Managers of the Manufacturing department as well as Maintenance and the Quality department.Physical Effort:
Physical effort consists of being aware of the surroundings while on plant floor. This position requires long periods of standing of up to 6-8 hours in an 8-10 hour shift with or without reasonable accommodations. This position also requires repetitive movement of shoulders, wrists, and hands with or without reasonable accommodations. This position also requires the ability to push and pull, as well as bending, twisting at the waist with or without reasonable accommodations. This position must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations. At times, this position will require the use of a ladder, must know how to safely ascend and descend following all safety guidelines.Working Conditions:
