Immediately Job Description Title•Lead•Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHS) (Internal Only) (SY26-27) Reports to: Building Principal in conjunction with STEM Coordinator
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and licensed teacher in the respective discipline area who has demonstrated exemplary teaching and instructional leadership skills.
Lead Responsibilities:
In addition to school-based responsibilities, the Chemical Hygiene Officer roles and responsibilities include: Works with the Chemical Hygiene Committee (CHC) to establish, maintain, and revise the chemical hygiene plan (CHP) Monitors the purchasing, use, storage and disposal of chemicals and biological waste. Maintain an updated inventory of all high school science curriculum chemical supplies, their amounts and location. Conducts regular inspections of labs, preparation rooms, and chemical storage rooms and submits detailed inspection reports to administration and the science lead teacher. Works with science teachers and students to establish and maintain a culture of safety in lab science classrooms. Serves as the chair of the Chemical Hygiene Committee (CHC). Regularly observes science teachers during labs and provides coaching and support around safe lab practices. Organizes or provides yearly laboratory safety training to relevant staff. Oversee Compliance with all regulations regarding the storage, use and disposal of high school curriculum related chemicals.
