Job Description:
  • POSITION PURPOSE
  • This position is located at Dakota Gasificaiton in Beulah, ND.
  • Performs organic, inorganic, and physical testing to determine the chemical and physical properties of materials, liquids, and gases to support plant process operations, environmental and industrial hygiene.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • + Performs organic and inorganic analytical bench chemistry. + Calibrates instruments, troubleshoots testing procedure, logs samples into Lab information System, records data, and validates results to meet rigorous quality control standards. + Advises customers, both current and potential, about DGC products and their properties. + Perform other duties as assigned.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • + Bachelor's degree in a science related field; or + Associate's degree in a science related field and 2 years of laboratory experience. + Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift.
  • PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
  • This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, use of a keyboard/computer, hand coordination, hand grip of 5 pounds, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching above and below shoulder level.
Requires occasional assisted lifts over 50 pounds, hand grip up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds, stooping, pinch grip of 10 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, use of tools and foot controls, and turning valves. Requires finger dexterity, good vision, hearing, the ability to speak and perform close work. The incumbent will continuously work with chemicals and operate laboratory instrumentation. The incumbent may be occasionally exposed to dirt, dust, extreme heat, cold, and poor ventilation.
  • KEY SKILLS
  • + Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Ability to read, write, perform arithmetic, weigh and measure, analyze data and reports, conduct research, present information to others, and work under pressure. + Broad knowledge of general and organic chemistry concepts, strong analytical, observational and time management skills.
