Job Description

Responsibilities:
1. Be aware of and follow confidentiality guidelines. 2. Conduct self in a professional manner in personal appearance and in the qualities presented to clients, public, and co-workers 3. Assist and conduct intake, admission, and discharge procedures 4. Maintain unit security and assist in basic crisis intervention 5. Facilitate groups as assigned 6. Orient new clients to unit and to the guidelines of the facility 7. Perform timely room checks 8. Perform hourly bed checks through night 9. Maintain an accurate "Shift Log" documenting the day's events 10. Assist in client drug testing and documentation (collection of urine specimens and conducting breathalyzer tests) 11. Perform other duties as assigned 12. Monitor and document unusual client behavior and notify counselors of concerns 13. Transport clients as needed on medical, dental, and recreational outings (must be on approve driver list with Human Resources) 14. Maintain client charts 15. Account for all client charts on unit 16. Build and break down charts as needed 17. Pick up and distribute client paperwork 18. Attend staffing for unit
Education and Experience:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent At least one (1) year of experience in counseling or working with alcoholics/addicts in a recognized treatment, rehabilitation, or counseling program; or a combination of education and experience. Two (2) years employment in the drug and alcohol field preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of the problems of alcoholism/addiction, co-occurring disorders and their effect on the individual and their family; individual and group behavior; the impact on health, economic, and social issues; community resources available to persons experiencing alcohol/drug related problems; and the short and long term effects of alcohol/drug dependency. Skill in interviewing techniques and crisis intervention; establishing and maintaining working relationships with others; and interacting with chemically dependent persons in a way that elicits their confidence, respect, and responsibility. Must have basic computer skills. A valid Oklahoma driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to negotiate stairs and lift up to 50 pounds. Access to
