About the Role The Gas Field Technician Lead is an advanced Field Technician III role responsible for performing all technical duties of a Field Technician III while serving as the subject matter expert (SME) and leader for a small team of Field Technicians (I, II, and III) within their assigned district/area. This position involves hands-on field work, mentoring team members, auditing performance, providing training, responding to team inquiries, and making day-to-day operational decisions to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant gas operations.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
Must maintain all Field Technician I & II "Operator Qualification Certifications" and have obtained all Field Technician III OQ Certifications. Handle leak calls and troubleshoot where the leak is coming from, and come to a resolution. Install, monitor, and maintain gas meter sets in new residential developments. Installation of light commercial meter sets (AL1000 and under) Installation of large commercial meter sets (AL1000 and up) Handle pressure upgrades for the installation of new equipment, like pools, hot tubs, or water heaters, etc. Works in conjunction with the Field Service team to coordinate daily activities and to ensure that gas service is uninterrupted. Inspect and certify contractor work in accordance with industry and Railroad Commission (RRC) standards. Perform patrols for pipeline surveys. Perform installation and programming of residential and commercial Automated Meter Reader (AMR). Begin to learn the Odorization process. Begin to learn the intricacies of the high-pressure stations and systems. May assist a High Pressure Technician when needed. Rotating schedule of "On-Call Duty" and the ability to perform the duties of On-Call Duty as outlined in the On-Call Policy .
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED. Five to seven years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of natural gas infrastructure. Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with experience guiding small teams in a field environment. Interpersonal skills required in dealing with Project Managers, vendors, contractors, and customers. Proven ability to manage and work with field construction and operational personnel in a hands-on manner. Understanding of local codes and regulations. Related experience in the field operations environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to be on a rotating schedule of on-call duty. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
