The research that the Principle Investigators conduct involves human studies of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, translational integrated physiology. Essential requirement : Applicants with master's degree preferred, with at least 2 years of working experience in Chemistry/Biochemistry with skills in HPLC, IRMS- MS and GC Mass spectrometry. Candidates should have sound knowledge of HPLC, GCMS and basic lab techniques. Clinical research experience is preferred with knowledge of biochemical, biological, and chemical assays involving human blood samples. The applicant should have experience in routine maintenance of HPLC, GCMS and be able to learn the lab standards in a short time. The incumbent's responsibilities will include analyzing plasma and urine samples labeled with isotopes of glucose, cortisol, and glucagon to enhance knowledge of pathophysiology of diabetes as part of federally funded research. The incumbent will work under supervision of Lab Principal Investigators and the Lab Manager.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals. 2. Develops and improves techniques for the lab. 3. Contributes to planning/design of studies. 4. Collects, enters, summarizes and analyzes data. 5. Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. 6. May assist in planning long or short-term goals/fiscal management. 7. Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Performs other duties as assigned Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in biochemistry or organic chemistry. This position is restricted and contingent on continued funding. You should have good technical skills and be able to work with accuracy and speed. The goal is to contribute to the delivery of high-quality care by accurately carrying out routine laboratory procedures in a timely manner. Requirements Applicants with master's degree preferred, with at least 2 years of working experience in Chemistry/Biochemistry with skills in HPLC, GC and Mass spectrometry. Applicants with Bachelor's degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry with 2+ years of research or industry experience in
HPLC, GC-MS
will be considered. A minimum of 2 years experience in a laboratory environment. A minimum of 2 years experience in computer use required.
