This is an onsite position in our Oceanside, CA office.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under limited supervision, analyze water samples for pre and post sales product support. Prepare investigations and conduct analysis to determine substances in water sample using standard chemicals and glassware equipment. Record observations, measurements and report results to customer. Order, restock and sustains lab supplies and/or equipment within work station.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares water samples from customer using standard laboratory practices. Analyzes samples using laboratory equipment to determine the physical, chemical and bacteriologic components. Records findings for reference and reporting purposes. Writes and issues result reports to Quality Assurance and Product Development Departments. Utilizes standard laboratory practices to prevent cross-contamination and inaccurate results. Keeps and sustains equipment clean and in good working order including work station. Interfaces with Quality Assurance and Product Development departments to determine best practices to perform requested analysis. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology and Microbiology; and 2 years' related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Six months to one year of water industry experience, a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, basic theory of operation and analytical testing lab experience. Understanding of sampling and preservation guidelines and troubleshooting problems with instrumentation. Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating, safety rules, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine to moderately complex reports and correspondence as well as speak effectively before customers or employees of the organization. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills such as Outlook, Word, Excel. Work independently and in a small or large group and or team whiles fostering cooperative spirit. Ability to function in a fast-paced dynamic environment with quick response times and accuracy. Must be able to see/focus for close eye work on small figures and discriminate colors and perceive depths. Must be able to speak/hear to fulfill verbal communications and respond to machine alarms/buzzers. Frequent exposure to gas/fumes/mists and chemicals or hazardous materials while using personal protective equipment when required.

Requires occasional sitting at a desk (up to 3 hours doing sedentary reports, research, and work with a computer. Ability to walk occasionally up to 3 hours per day. Ability to stand frequently up to 3 - 6 hours a day while operating equipment in the laboratory. Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 25 pounds. Ability to occasionally lift items overhead up to 10 pounds. Ability to occasionally climb a step stool. Ability to grasp objects occasionally up to 3 hours a day. Ability to occasionally push/pull carts with lab supplies or samples up to 3 hours per day. Fine hand manipulation of light-moderate strength is required to operate touch screen displays on lab equipment and conduct pipetting. Must be able to see/focus with close eye work on small figures and discriminate colors and perceive depths. Must be able to speak/hear verbal communications and respond to machine alarms/buzzers. Frequent exposure to gas/fumes/mists and chemicals or hazardous materials while using personal protective equipment when required. Must wear safety shoes in required areas. Must be able to work extended hours per the demands of the business.
