Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary:
The Synthetic Chemist II is responsible for design, validation and implementation of synthesis projects in organic synthesis with an emphasis on peptide synthesis, bioconjugation, purification and characterization of compounds of interest..
Duties and Responsibilities:
It is everyone's responsibility to live out our Values and Absolutes by Shaping a World of Trust while ensuring responsible progress. . Work closely with senior scientists to accomplish team objectives and research milestones. Design, validate and implement synthesis projects in organic synthesis, peptide synthesis, bioconjugation, purification and characterization of compounds of interest. Maintain accurate record keeping, perform independent data analyses, and report data in written and oral formats. Critically evaluate data and results and troubleshoot synthesis issues. Perform work in compliance with client policies, following good documentation practice and note booking. Demonstrate ability to function independently, work within a flexible, team-oriented lab environment, and work within cross-functional project teams. Contribute intellectually to projects, challenges, solutions and new methods. Perform instrument maintenance and performance qualification of instruments and troubleshooting. Act in partnership with internal and external contacts and management to support process improvement development. Performs testing in coordination with internal and external contacts, coworkers and supervision from management. Report safety, instrument and technical issues to the appropriate contacts. Maintain supplies, lab cleanliness and analytical instrumentation as required. Prepare stock solutions and keep shelves and reagent stocked. Follows the guidelines set forth by the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Inc Quality Manual and Safety/Chemical Hygiene Plan. Other duties as defined by the Manager, department needs and workload.

Education and Experience:
Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field Prefer MS or Postgraduate training or equivalent experience in peptide synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and/or combinational chemistry Minimum of 2 years of experience in wet laboratory research. Minimum of 1 year experience designing, validating, performing and analyzing own experiments to generate synthetic compounds of interest. HPLC purification. Small molecule and solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), bioconjugation of peptides, isolation, purification and characterization. Demonstratable experience with SPPS using automated synthesis.
Compensation Range:
$38.00-$42.00 per hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as location, education, experience, and skillset).
