LOCATION
This is a fully onsite position based at our Sunnyvale, CA site. Unfortunately, relocation assistance is NOT provided. Priority will be given to LOCAL candidates currently residing in the Bay Area. DESCRIPTION
Join our innovative R D team to make a meaningful impact on scientific advancement. As a Scientist III in the HPCS (High Performance Chromatography Solutions) business, you will lead technical projects and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to develop advanced chromatography consumables that enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. This role covers chromatography column development from concept through commercialization with a specific focus on the processes used to make these products. You will design and execute experiments, analyze complex data, resolve technical challenges, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers opportunities to mentor colleagues while working independently on sophisticated research programs that directly impact product development and customer success. Education PhD, Master's degree plus 3 years' experience, or Bachelors plus 5 years' experience in a relevant field
Preferred Fields of Study:
Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline Experience Demonstrated ability to iteratively design and execute experiments and analyze data to gain technical understanding and solve complex problems. Short and long-term work planning necessary to complete projects and meet deliverables Using scientific theory and literature to intelligently design experiments for product design and evaluation Previous experience liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry a plus but not required Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO9001, ISO13485, cGMP) a plus but not required Job Responsibilities Design and develop new liquid chromatography products from concept through commercialization based on customer and business requirements Evaluate prototype media and columns against final product requirements defined by customer and business needs Use chemical and process engineering principles to design and develop manufacturing processes for chromatographic stationary phases Develop and evaluate LC column packing and manufacturing processes Design and develop in-process and final product test methods to measure and ensure high quality outcomes Create customer facing collateral to demonstrate recent technology innovations with relevant customer applications including mass spectrometry Collaborate with R D colleagues and technology Subject Matter Experts to comprehensively design and develop products Coordinate across Business Unit functions (Product Management, Marketing, Quality, Operations, etc.) to meet project and product deliverables Proactively identify, investigate, and implement improvements to current processes and products Directly support customers through product and method troubleshooting in collaboration with the Technical Support and Quality teams Stay up to date on current industry technologies including competitor products Maintain current lab equipment and make recommendations to management for capital acquisitions Clear and frequent communication of project plans and experimental findings to managers, peers, and other functions to provide visibility and appropriately prioritize work Contribute to company IP through patents, invention disclosure and trade secret technologies Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment May require up to 5% travel English language proficiency required, additional languages beneficial Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $100,000.00-$133,300.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
