The firm uses state-of-the-art continuous flow chemistry equipment and process intensification techniques to produce high-value specialty chemicals for industrial and defense markets. Our products range from additives for rocket propellants to chemicals for semiconductor processing. This is a hands-on position, where you will be doing analytical work and data analysis, including day-to-day sample prep, data collection, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. A successful candidate will have experience in developing and optimizing analytical methods. To support R D and production efforts you will need a combination of statistical analysis and report generation experience. The analytical chemist will work with a small team of talented scientists, engineers, and technicians to shepherd breakthrough designs from ideas to production hardware for specialty industrial, aerospace and defense applications. Responsibilities Establish and execute method development on new and existing analytical methodology using statistical analysis for analytical techniques and processes Data interpretation with limited guidance to guide experimental design, and convert into technical documentation Technical knowledge to develop, trouble shoot, and perform routine chemical analysis and maintenance using the following - HPLC-UV, GC-FID, pH titrations, DSC, Karl Fischer, and wet analytical chemistry techniques Troubleshoot analytical equipment, quality control failures, cleaning, and maintenance Maintain ongoing communication with laboratory management regarding workflow and priorities Collaborate with teams to support R D efforts and chemical production Generate and certify COAs Perform standard wet chemical techniques in glassware: make stock and calibration solutions, use an analytical balance, run batch reactions, extractions and distillations, and titrate solutions Follow standard operating procedures for the analysis and manipulation of toxic, flammable, or energetic substances Maintain notebook and records Diligently maintain laboratory and production area cleanliness and organization Understand and strictly follow safety programs related to hazardous chemicals Manage time and organization efficiently Requirements BS Chemistry + 3-8 years relevant work experience or MS Chemistry +1-2 years relevant work experience Hands-on experience in a research laboratory or chemical production facility Experience with organic synthesis Strong attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be able to lift 30 pounds Comfortable working with Microsoft Office suite Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and must be able to pass a background check
