Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE
The Process Scientist supports the Advanced Innovation & Research (AIR) Department's development, scale-up and pilot batch activities of new products. They also contribute to innovation by evaluating, optimizing, and integrating novel processing techniques and technologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency, yield, and overall product performance.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include: Supports formulation and technical execution of New Product Development (NPD) projects from ideation through commercialization e.g. technical brief generation, formula development at lab/bench scale, prototyping, pilot production, shelf life studies, analytical testing, and finished product specification development. Collaborates with AIR Formulation Scientists in evaluating functional ingredients, delivery forms, processes, and other relevant technologies to support innovation. Works alongside AIR Formulation Scientists to conduct studies that guide product design and ensure new products deliver an exceptional consumer experience. Establishes working relationships with external suppliers, internal and contract development labs, and manufacturing sites to advance projects in accordance with project timelines. Participates in cross-functional team discussions with AIR, Sales, Quality, Procurement to support progress on new product development initiatives. Assist in designing and conducting experiments to troubleshoot process issues. Drafts and prepares finished formulations with blending protocols, analyzes experimental results, and compiles summary reports. Provides routine development updates and technical recommendations to immediate supervisors and project leads. Assists in investigating and resolving product failures related to assay, microbiological compliance, and manufacturing performance. Supports improvements to laboratory workflows, documentation, and interdepartmental coordination. Conducts research on alternative ingredients, regulatory frameworks (FDA, CFR, NSF, European Pharmacopeia), and material safety/toxicity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
BS in Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science, or Related Field.
Experience:
Two to five years' experience in Research and Development, preferably in the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software such as Excel and Word. Ability to work in ERP system (BatchMaster).
