Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for preparing laboratories and supporting classroom demonstrations for instructional activities, including laboratory setup, teardown, preparation of materials and reagents as directed by instructors, and the cleaning, maintenance, and storage of glassware, equipment, and instrumentation. Ensure preparation rooms and laboratories are maintained in a clean, safe, functional, and organized condition that supports effective teaching and learning. Responsible for maintaining the laboratory budget and managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies needed for instructional laboratories. Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock and efficient use of resources, and coordinate purchasing activities with department personnel, including the Chair, full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, and other laboratory staff, as well as College departments such as Information Technology, Purchasing, and Accounts Payable. Responsible for hiring and supervising work-study students, maintaining proper paperwork for the hiring and supervision processes, including communicating with Financial Aid. Responsible for maintaining accurate records, documentation, and procedures related to the acquisition, use, storage, and disposal of chemicals, including compliance with applicable environmental health and safety regulations. Coordinate and schedule hazardous waste collection and disposal activities, maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and ensure all required chemical inventory and safety records are current and accessible. Responsible for developing, updating, and communicating laboratory safety and operational procedures, and ensuring that all laboratory personnel—including full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, laboratory staff, and work-study students—are informed of and trained on proper laboratory practices, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. May teach up to 9 contact hours.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
