Full Job Description Responsibilities:

Detection Techniques

• Evaluate and apply analytical methods (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-OES/ICP-MS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) methods for detection and quantification of chemical constituents and contaminants.
• Screen a range of food matrices using chemical and biochemical techniques.
• Prepare technical summaries of methods evaluated and document analytical approaches and results in monthly reports. Chemical Contaminants and Biothreat Agents Homogeneity and Stability
• Conduct laboratory experiments introducing chemical contaminants and biothreat agents into a variety of food matrices to investigate the effects of intrinsic and extrinsic parameters on uniformity, homogeneity, and stability of contaminants in food samples.
• Document experimental designs and prepare summaries of findings and stability assessments. Sample Preparation
• Prepare and distribute uniform, homogeneous, and stable target chemical contaminants/food samples in a variety of matrices to laboratory networks according to study designs.
• Develop sample preparation protocols and maintain distribution records and tracking documentation. Data Analysis and Reporting
• Collect, analyze, and summarize inter-laboratory data in accordance with

ISO 17043, ISO

13528, and

ISO 5725

Standards.

• Prepare data analysis summaries, proficiency testing reports, draft manuscripts, and presentation materials. Laboratory Oversight
• Provide technical support to laboratory operations and assist with coordination of activities with external partners.
• Document coordination activities and prepare laboratory support summaries for inclusion in reports. Requirements
• Demonstrated experience with analytical detection techniques such as GC-MS, LC-MS, and

ICP-OES/ICP-MS

for chemical constituent and contaminant analysis.

• Working knowledge of ISO standards relevant to proficiency testing and method validation, including

ISO 17043, ISO

13528, and

ISO 5725.

• Experience designing and executing laboratory experiments to assess homogeneity and stability of chemical or microbiological hazards in food matrices.
• Skill in developing sample preparation protocols and maintaining rigorous documentation and distribution/tracking records.
• Strong data analysis skills, including inter-laboratory data evaluation and statistical assessment of proficiency testing results.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including technical report writing, manuscript preparation, and presentation development.
• Ability to coordinate laboratory activities and communicate effectively with external laboratory network partners. Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree or Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, food science, chemistry, or a related scientific field (equivalent experience may be considered).
• Prior laboratory experience with chemical and/or microbiological analytical methods relevant to food safety or regulatory testing.
• Experience with method validation, proficiency testing, or inter-laboratory comparison studies preferred.

Pay:
