Job Description
About the Job Fluid Management company looking to fill a Chemist Team Lead position at a local manufacturer. Work in a fast-paced industrial environment with excellent opportunities to learn and grow. Chemist role will support operations on the shop floor by: Performing quality control operations on production products. Maintaining industrial chemical solutions. Performing microbiological testing. Maintaining water treatment chemistries. Cross-train to support other positions in the Fluid Management team. Troubleshooting and working to resolve problems on the shop floor. Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas. Actively work on projects for cost reduction, safety, and process improvement. Communicating with team members and plant personnel. Maintaining inventory, recording usage, and ordering supplies, as necessary. Job Requirements Experience with Microsoft Excel required. Ability to ALWAYS work safely. Good communication skills. Experience with ICP spectrometers, FTIR spectrometers, Karl Fischer titrations preferred but not required. Work experience in an industrial setting preferred but not required.
- Bench Top trial of products following specific protocols and make end user reports.
- Ability to help create testing protocols for identifying potential problems.
- Ability and willingness to learn all lab tech positions to cover during sickness, personal leave, and holidays.
- Capable of using and creating documents in Excel and Microsoft Office (using cell functions)
- Perform supervisor duties when supervisor is on leave.
- Loves to help problem solve.
- Experience in a Laboratory setting. This can be undergraduate research while earning a degree as well.
- This position has a minimum requirement of a 2-year degree in applied sciences, chemistry, biology or related field, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Solid understanding of basic chemistry principles.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
- Good mathematical ability in algebra and arithmetic.
- Leadership ability - previous experience leading a team on a project. Can be from educational experience.
- Expected to work independently and manage time appropriately.
