Scientist ll - Senior Scientist Ex Vivo & 3
D Model Assays Location:
Natick, MA Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with hands-on expertise in ex vivo immune assays, 3D spheroid, and organoid-based platforms to support our preclinical drug discovery efforts. The successful candidate will have a PhD with 2-3 yrs or Master's degree with 5-6 years of relevant industry experience and will play a key role in evaluating the biological activity and mechanism of novel therapeutic candidates across oncology, autoimmune, and inflammatory disease areas. This role is ideal for a scientist passionate about translating complex biology into meaningful data using patient-relevant assay systems
Job Responsibilities:
Design, execute, and analyze ex vivo assays using human PBMCs, tumor digests, or tissue-derived immune cells. Develop and implement 3D spheroid and organoid-based co-culture systems, including tumor-immune or stroma-immune models. Perform high-content immunophenotyping and functional readouts using multi-color flow cytometry, cytokine profiling (MSD, ELISA, Luminex), and live-cell imaging. Support pharmacodynamic, MOA, and efficacy studies for biologics, TCEs, and other immunomodulatory agents. Work with human biospecimens (e.g., tumor tissue, blood, ascites) and maintain compliance with biosafety and sample handling protocols. Maintain detailed records, present findings at team meetings, and contribute to internal documentation and publications.
Qualifications:
PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field with 2-3 years of hands-on industry experience, or a Master's degree with 4-5 years of relevant experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting. Proven expertise in ex vivo immune cell assays, primary cell culture, and immune cell functional analysis. Experience with 3D cell culture systems such as tumor spheroids, organoids, or co-culture models. Strong skills in flow cytometry (data acquisition and analysis), cytokine assays, and viability/proliferation platforms. Familiarity with handling human tissue samples and BSL-2 laboratory practices. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently troubleshoot and optimize assays. Strong team player with effective communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience applying 3D culture platforms to immune-oncology, autoimmune disease, or ither disease area. Proficiency in flow cytometry software (e.g., FlowJo), imaging platforms (e.g., Incucyte), and analysis tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism). Knowledge of T cell biology, myeloid interactions, or tumor microenvironment. Familiarity with antibody-based therapeutic formats, including T cell engagers, ADCs or bispecifics.
