Job Description:

Reporting to the Chemistry Department Chair, the Chemistry Laboratory Manager is responsible for the preparation of teaching laboratories within the Chemistry department, including maintaining inventory and equipment, keeping accounts of budget and inventory, laying out supplies for student use, maintaining equipment including departmental IR's, UV's, GC's, HPLC's and NMR, dry-running new laboratory procedures, safety projects pertaining to the laboratories creating impactful programming and opportunities for alumni, parents, and friends to learn, volunteer, and connect with the College as part of engagement efforts. Also, this position teaches three labs per academic year. This position has a budgeted hiring rate of $53,000. The position is classified as A2. The A2 salary band for all full-time, 12-month positions at the college with this classification have a minimum rate of $43,880 and a maximum rate of $63,187. For benefit purposes only, the workweek is estimated to be 35 hours per week. The actual schedule for exempt positions may vary based on the workload and responsibilities assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field Willingness to perform a variety of tasks involving laboratory maintenance, student laboratory classroom preparation, and instruction of introductory chemistry lab Good organizational, interpersonal, personnel management, and time management skills Computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office (primarily Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) Mechanical/equipment basic maintenance and/or mending skills desirable Ability to work/teach labs during the afternoon lab session from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Must be able to wear a respirator (i.e., N95), with required medical evaluation and annual fit testing
