Job Description

The Engineering Support Intern position provides hands-on laboratory support for product development, technical sales support, and raw materials qualifications for a wax production facility. The plant produces wax blends that are primarily used as additives to improve the processing of PVC compounds. Our process is a combination of melt blending paraffin and polyethylene waxes and reacting stearic acid with lime or a polyol to make calcium stearate or ester waxes. The job will be in our development lab and will primarily involve making wax blends, blending PVC compounds, and testing the PVC compounds on a torque rheometer. The torque rheometer melts the PVC compounds, measures the change in viscosity, as well as the melt temperature as the PVC compound is converted from a powder to a homogeneous melt. There may be an opportunity to help run a lab extruder and injection molder.
