Job Description

Job Description The Department of Natural Sciences and Environmental Health (NSEH) at Mississippi Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor Position in Analytical Chemistry, beginning August 10, 2026. We seek a dynamic and dedicated educator-scholar with a passion for undergraduate teaching, advising, research, and service.
Primary Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and/or Inorganic chemistry and other general courses such as General Chemistry and Survey of Physical Science. Develop and maintain an active research program in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related field, with meaningful undergraduate student involvement. Serve as an academic advisor for undergraduate students in the NSEH department. Write and submit research and educational grant proposals to support scholarly and instructional activities. Contribute to departmental service, including committee participation and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. in Chemistry, with a focus in Analytical Chemistry (or a closely related field), completed by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.
  • Evidence of ability to establish a research project involving undergraduates.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:
Postdoctoral experience. Experience in teaching and/or developing Chemistry or general science courses. Commitment to mentoring a diverse student population. Potential to seek external funding for research or program development.
