JOB SUMMARY
The R D Senior Formulation Chemist aims to ensure all our Clients Skincare Holdings companies are supported in all types of formulation work including new product development, migration of production (change in manufacturing venue), and all related technical support. The emphasis is on both pharmaceutical and cosmetic skincare, haircare, and personal care products and the associated paperwork and regulatory consideration required for their product development. Technical assistance, checking of other R D staff's work and cross-functional cooperation is critical. Previous experience in cosmetic emulsion orother skin care formulation work is essential, with a minimum of 7 years of experience, preferably 10 or more.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Formulate products in accordance with new product development briefs, as directed by the Lab
  • Qualify new raw material suppliers
  • Formulate to update and maintain the portfolio of internal and contract manufacturing customers
  • Manager and prepare those formulations to be sent to prospective customers.
  • Adjust formulas to meet cost parameters.
  • Monitor and run stability studies.
  • Monitor and assist in validation work.
  • Reformulate to meet "green" or customer-provided prohibited ingredients list standards.
  • Enter information regarding customer/project time expenditure into our software program.
  • Assist in troubleshooting both laboratory and production batch issues.
  • Reverse engineer prototypes and field samples, with assistance.
  • Monitor formulation progress at third party contact formulators.
  • Create and/or check label ingredient statements.
  • Create and check master formulation documents (formula, procedure, specifications, etc.)
  • Keep progress trackers and project management data up to date.
  • Evaluate product concepts and design proper preservative systems.
  • Procure and track third-party lab results as well as internal lab test data.
  • Follow cGMP protocols.
  • Interface with, and give technical advice to other departments, for example, production, QA, QC, regulatory affairs.
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Complete satisfactorily all tasks assigned to them.
