$8,206 - $11,090 / month Description Responsible to perform all duties in accordance with applicable safety regulations, Company policies and practices. Collect samples and perform chemical analyses as directed. Prepare special analyses of coal and other materials. Adjust and maintain analytical control of equipment. Expected to align personal goals with the Mission, Vision, and Values of
OVEC-IKEC.
Key Responsibilities Collect and/or perform chemical analyses of samples. Determine necessary control adjustments and implement. Perform special chemical analyses and tests on coal to determine volatile matter and fusion temperature. Perform special tests and analyses such as boiler scale, turbine, condenser, deaerator and evaporator deposits, coal density and lubricating oils. Perform inspections of equipment, make repairs or recommendations. Oversee inventory supplies and order reagents and indicators as necessary for qualitative and quantitative analyses of all raw materials used in the plant such as water, coal and oil. Prepare necessary records and reports of analyses and tests conducted. Assist with the chemical cleaning of boilers and related equipment. Check work progress and completed work of nonexempt employees in the department. This includes strategic partners or any augmented staff. Assume the duties of Senior Chemist during their absence, which may include supervision of others, including strategic partners. Responsible to ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable safety regulations and Company policies. Investigate causes of complaint and assist when necessary. Keep informed of the latest practices, methods and procedures in coal-fired electric generating station chemistry and consistently apply these to ensure efficiency and economy in the operation of the department. Obtain any required licenses/certification to meet the facilities regulatory requirements. Recommend and carry out appropriate measures of discipline of employees under direct supervision. Perform duties in accordance with all applicable federal and state safety laws and regulations. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related science and a minimum of two years experience in the field.
