Job Description
Inpria Corporation, a subsidiary of JSR, has an immediate opening for a Staff Synthetic Chemist (Staff Chemist II) based in Corvallis, OR. We seek an enthusiastic and conscientious candidate to join our diverse and talented R&D synthesis team as we extend the limits of organometallic chemistry. This lab-centric position carries responsibilities for synthesis, purification, and analysis of novel compounds under the direction of highly experienced synthetic chemists. Primary Responsibilities Safely execute organic and organometallic syntheses and separations under the direction of senior research chemists using defined protocols and procedures. Accurately calculate, measure, mix, and track multistep and multicomponent reactions and mixtures. Perform air-free (Schlenk and glove-box) filtration, transfer, addition and purification operations. Fractionally distill organic and organometallic species under high-vacuum to meet strict purity specifications. Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook, including standard metrology results in conformance with internal best practices and standards. Follow instructions and published SOPs, while seeking to identify process and safety improvements Conduct multinuclear NMR analyses on products, reagents, and intermediates Maintain a clean and safe lab workspace Assist EHS personnel in the development and documentation of SOPs, exposure monitoring protocols, and PPE requirements Perform other duties as assigned Key Qualifications BS in Chemistry or relevant related discipline At least one year of organic chemistry coursework, including laboratory work At least one year of organic / organometallic synthetic research experience Active and effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills Self-motivated and proactive in achieving goals Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without the need for employer sponsorship Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Ability to use a keyboard and mouse for computer data entry and/or analysis, and for presenting data. Ability to wear a respirator (upon training/certification) for processes that may require it. Ability to wear standard cleanroom attire in areas that require it. Ability to wear standard PPE in areas that require it. Ability to lift 20 lbs. Ability to use a glovebox with thick rubber gloves to accurately pour, pipet, mix, and handle chemicals in small vials or bottles. Ability to lift 40 pounds from floor to table height. Ability to sit and/or stand in one place for extended periods. Physical activities include using hand tools, bending, stooping, pushing, lifting, climbing stairs, carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis.
