$30-$55 per Hour, Depending on Experience Hiring Immediately About Us We are a South Texas manufacturer of household and commercial cleaning products, including dish detergents, multipurpose cleaners, degreasers, and specialty cleaning solutions. We are seeking an experienced Formulation Chemist or Regulatory Consultant to provide technical expertise on a flexible part-time basis. This position is ideal for a retired chemical professional, independent consultant, formulation specialist, or experienced chemist seeking supplemental work. We are looking for someone who can oversee product formulations, quality systems, and regulatory compliance without the need for a full-time role. Position Overview The Part-Time Formulation Chemist / Regulatory Consultant will serve as the company's primary technical resource for product formulation, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing support. Our manufacturing processes are established and stable. The primary focus of this role will be maintaining and improving existing formulations, ensuring consistent product quality, supporting regulatory compliance, and assisting with occasional new product development projects.
Responsibilities:
Product Formulation Review, maintain, and improve existing cleaning product formulations.
Develop or modify formulas for:
Dish detergents Multipurpose cleaners Degreasers Specialty cleaning products Evaluate alternative raw materials and cost-saving opportunities. Troubleshoot product performance or manufacturing issues. Provide recommendations for product improvements and line extensions. Quality Control & Quality Assurance Review and maintain quality control procedures. Evaluate product specifications and testing methods. Assist with investigation of product quality concerns. Recommend corrective and preventive actions when necessary. Support consistency and quality across production batches. Regulatory Compliance Maintain compliance with applicable U.S. regulations and industry standards.
Review and assist with:
OSHA Hazard Communication requirements Safety Data Sheets (SDS) Product labeling Chemical safety documentation Regulatory recordkeeping Provide guidance regarding EPA and FDA requirements when applicable. Assist management during regulatory reviews or inspections. Manufacturing Support Serve as a technical advisor to management and production personnel. Review production processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements. Assist with manufacturing troubleshooting as needed. Provide periodic on-site support and remote consultation. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or related scientific field. Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical formulation, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or chemical manufacturing. Working knowledge of cleaning product chemistry, detergents, surfactants, and related raw materials. Familiarity with OSHA Hazard Communication requirements, SDS management, and chemical labeling standards. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred Experience formulating household or industrial cleaning products. Experience supporting small or mid-sized manufacturing operations. Experience with quality systems and process improvement. Bilingual English/Spanish. Consulting or contractor experience. Work Arrangement Flexible schedule. Approximately 10-20 hours per week. Combination of on-site and remote work may be considered. Independent contractor arrangement preferred, but alternative arrangements may be discussed.
