Tentamus North America is on the search for an Analytical Chemist I to join our Analytical Food Laboratories Team in Grand Prairie, Texas! KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Analytical Chemist I you will perform a variety of technical laboratory functions to support the daily operation and maintenance of the chemistry laboratory. Duties include but are not limited to: Perform a variety of technical laboratory functions to support the daily operation, maintenance, and overall workflow of the chemistry laboratory Understand and follow all company policies, procedures, and SOPs, including those related to laboratory operations, ethics, and conflict of interest, in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, NELAC, and other applicable accrediting bodies Independently perform testing and quality control procedures, producing accurate, defensible, and traceable results within client-required timelines Review client test requests, ensure alignment with reporting requirements, and follow approved testing methods precisely (with any deviations approved by supervisors) Ensure proper controls are in place during testing and identify, troubleshoot, and communicate any issues with equipment, media, or test methods to laboratory leadership Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable records for all laboratory activities, ensuring proper documentation practices and corrections when necessary Apply Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) across all activities, including safe and proper use of laboratory equipment and reporting of accidents or equipment malfunctions Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot scientific instrumentation, including but not limited to GC, GC/MS, HPLC, ICP-MS, LC/MS, UV-VIS, FTIR, safety hoods, and analytical balances Execute the full sample workflow, including sample preparation (e.g., homogenization), retention, disposal, daily quality control samples, and preventative maintenance of equipment Develop proficiency in laboratory test methods, reagents, SOPs, and reference materials; understand expected results and identify abnormal or non-conforming outcomes Evaluate test results against client specifications or historical data and report any unusual or non-conforming results to the Lead Chemist or Chemistry Manager Participate in routine laboratory cleaning and general equipment maintenance Be able to perform Wet Chemist I & II responsibilities, or other duties assigned by Management.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work at a laboratory bench for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds.
SCHEDULE
Full Time, Regular schedule is Tues - Sat, 6:00AM - 3:00PM after 90-day probationary period. Weekends as Needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate will be authorized to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship, hold a BS degree or higher in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related science discipline.
Other qualifications include:
Minimum 6 months of experience in Wet Chemist II position or related role. Must have experience in HPLC, GC, and/or ICP Experience with LC-MS is a plus! Preventative maintenance and troubleshooting experience is a plus Ability to work and collaborate within a team structure Possess strong attention to detail and strong communication skills.
