About Houston ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors. By bringing many global functional groups together, the campus provides employees with the tools and capabilities needed today, and in the future, to achieve business objectives and accelerate the discovery of new resources, technologies and products. What role you will play in our team Characterize fluid, rock, and material samples using advanced analytical techniques with a focus on gas chromatography-based instrumentation.
What you will do Support research programs involving the molecular characterization of complex mixtures using primarily gas chromatography (GC) methods Provide sample analysis including, but is not limited to, sediment and source rock extracts, crude oils, and refined products Perform routine calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of instrumentation Follow laboratory safety procedures, chemical hygiene plans and PPE requirements Comply with quality management systems (e.g., ISO, GLP, internal QC standards) About you Skills and Qualifications B.S. or M.S. degree in chemistry, geochemistry, biochemistry, or related field with an emphasis on analytical separation Hands-on experience operating GC systems with different detectors such as FID, TCD, MS, VUV, and chemiluminescence, including analyses, data processing and instrument maintenance Attention to detail and the ability to follow proper lab procedures and uphold good housekeeping practices in lab Willingness to be involved in research that is highly exploratory in nature and may support programs within division and affiliate organizations Good communication skills for understanding and describing scientific observations, experimental plans and results, equipment and material design concepts Ability to quickly learn new tasks and integrate them into workflows Organized, punctual, and takes full responsibility for laboratory procedural compliance and safe laboratory operations including equipment maintenance, chemical and supply ordering, chemical inventory, safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals Effective in a team working environment, enjoys challenges, and committed to lifelong learning Strictly adhere to SOPs for different methods and workflows Comfortable and confident in working with solvents and chemicals Experience with working in analytical lab environment Preferred Qualifications/ Experience Expertise in Agilent GC systems with various detectors and Agilent data acquisition and processing software Experience with other chromatography techniques including
