BanfieldBio Inc. is currently looking for a chemist to join us for a 2-year USDA New World Screwworm Research Project. Over the last 10 years, our company has received more NIH Small Business grants to develop novel vector control technologies than any other company in the US. Currently, we are engaged in multiple research projects on mitigating threats from arthropods of medical and/or veterinary importance, including ticks, bed bugs, cockroaches, flies, and mosquitoes. We turn concepts into products that benefit global health, and we need to expand our team. Ideal candidates will work in both the laboratory and the field as part of BanfieldBio's scientific team, cooperating with internal and external collaborators. We are seeking someone who is a practically oriented and ambitious innovator that thrives on teamwork and unconventional approaches to emerging challenges. They will be mentored in career development by experienced researchers who have an established track record of grantsmanship, commercialization and publication. This position requires a recent B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry or similar field, with a strong preference for studies in materials development, polymer membrane fabrication, formulation of adhesives, pesticide product formulas, synthetic fiber development, or analytical chemistry methods. Facilities include a foundational onsite laboratory, with unrestricted access to the U. Washington Spectroscopic and Analytical Instrumentation Facility in Seattle. Tasks associated with this role may include the following:

• Assist in modeling controlled-release characteristics and other studies of release rates or chemical stability for various constructs.
• Participate in devising and evaluating new methods for prototype production and proof of concept with new technologies.
• Coordinate experimental investigations being conducted by external collaborators.
• Determine the efficacy of novel techniques and products at various stages of development, including analysis and presentation of experimental data.
• Formulate various existing chemical technologies for laboratory testing and field distribution.
• Assist in transitioning to green chemistry practices.
• Attend and contribute constructively to regular meetings within the company.
• Write reports for internal use and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed and lay journals.
• Present results and information at scientific, professional and industrial meetings.
• Participate in writing and submission of patent applications.

This is a full-time position at $24-32/hr DOE. A permanent position may also be offered at the completion of the project. Please apply by Friday, July 17th.
