Job Description
A leading manufacturer in the paints and coatings industry is looking for an experienced Technical Leader to join its R&D team in the Milwaukee Area . This is a senior opportunity for a coatings specialist who wants to combine technical expertise, innovation, project leadership, and people development. The role offers the opportunity to lead the technical direction of coatings R&D while working on the development of new technologies and products from formulation through scale-up and commercialization. You'll also work closely with manufacturing, quality, marketing, and other teams to bring ideas from the lab into production. A key part of the position is mentoring and developing scientists and helping strengthen the wider R&D team. The ideal candidate is not only a strong technical expert, but someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships, and bringing teams together. What You'll Do Lead the technical direction of coatings R&D, with a focus on waterborne formulations. Develop products from formulation through scale-up and commercialization. Lead R&D projects and solve complex technical and manufacturing challenges. Work closely with manufacturing, quality, marketing, and other teams. Mentor and develop scientists and help build the R&D team. Drive new technologies, innovation, and product improvements. What You Need 10+ years of coatings/product development experience. Strong expertise in waterborne chemistry and formulations. Broad knowledge of coating technologies and resin systems. Experience taking products from lab development into manufacturing. MS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field. Proven technical and people leadership – someone who can lead the science and the people.
