Company Overview The California Liver Research Center (CLRC) is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to advancing research focused on the prevention and cure of liver disease. Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Research Finance & Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual to manage sponsor and CRO invoicing, payment reconciliation, and financial tracking for our growing research program. Duties Prepare and submit sponsor and CRO invoices according to Clinical Trial Agreements, budgets and payment schedules Handle confidential financial information with integrity, adhering to data security protocols and compliance requirements including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act). Ensure all invoiceable study procedures and milestone payments are billed accurately. Payment Reconciliation Reconcile sponsor payments with expected budgeted amounts. Identify underpayments, overpayments, and missing payments. Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies with sponsors and CROs. Maintain accounts receivable reports. Financial Tracking Monitor visit-based, milestone, startup, retention, screen failure, and closeout payments. Track pass-through expenses and reimbursements. Maintain study-specific financial trackers. Provide monthly financial reports for management. Collaboration Work closely with Clinical Research Coordinators to ensure all billable activities are captured. Coordinate with study startup personnel regarding budget implementation. Communicate professionally with sponsors, CROs, and vendors regarding financial matters. Process Improvement Develop and improve financial workflows. Ensure billing documentation is organized and audit-ready. Assist with creating financial SOPs and internal procedures. Track invoice submission deadlines. Maintain invoice logs and supporting documentation. Experience Proven experience in accounting or finance roles within healthcare, clinical research, or non-profit organizations. Experience using a Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS). Experience reviewing Clinical Trial Agreements and study budgets. Knowledge of clinical research regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Experience with Phase II-IV industry-sponsored clinical trials. You are highly organized, proactive, and comfortable communicating with sponsors and CROs to resolve payment issues.
