A Clinical Investigator works on a clinical trial, and is responsible for ensuring that an investigation is conducted according to the signed investigator statement, the investigational plan, and applicable regulations; for protecting the rights, safety, and welfare of subjects under the investigator's care; and for the control of drugs under investigation. The Clinical Investigator must also meet requirements set forth by the FDA, EMA or other regulatory body. The qualifications must be outlined in a current resume and readily available for auditors.

Google Chrome, Safari Description This is an academic position in the practice and teaching of pediatric hematology/oncology to medical students, residents, and allied health professionals. Examples of Duties I. Teaching 25% 1. Participates in the development and implementation of specific graduate and undergraduate curricula in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. 2. Participate directly in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology residency training. 3. Participate in continuing education programs pertaining to pediatric hematology/oncology, within the clinical faculty, the area-wide physicians and the medical students. II. Service (Patient Care) 70% 1. Demonstrates, by actions, commitment to the mission and the behavioral standards of SIU School of Medicine. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers through collaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity and accountability; diversity and inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement. 2. Maintain a consultative pediatric hematology/oncology practice in order to maintain clinical proficiency. 3. Under the terms of SIU Medicine, provide the highest quality of patient care in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology. With the agreement of affiliated hospitals, provide clinical services. Clinical practice includes travel to outreach clinics. 4. Assist division chief in coordination of chemotherapy program. 5. Provide as a role model as a practitioner for faculty, house staff and students. 6. Provide peer review for assessing the clinical practice of the faculty within the Division. 7. Carry out recruitment and foster faculty development within the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. 8. Represent the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in regional, state and national matters pertaining to the field of hematology/oncology. 9. Represent the Department of Pediatrics on committees as requested by the Associate Chair of Pediatric Specialty Services and/or the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics. 10. Participates in the design of the electronic health records pertaining to divisional needs. IV. Research 5% 1. Participate in quality, research, and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the division. 2. Provide a risk model for students and residents as a investigator. 3. Maintain active membership in Children's Oncology Group Qualifications- MD or equivalent degree
- Board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics
- Board certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics
- Eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois
