Position Summary The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the UNC School of Medicine's Department of Neurology and Department of Neurosurgery seek a full-time faculty member to join the Neuro-Oncology program. Ideal candidates will be fellowship trained in Neuro-Oncology or have similar experience in the care of brain tumor patients. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) first designated the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1990. UNC is one of only 40 Comprehensive Cancer Centers nationwide, and UNC Lineberger is the only public Comprehensive Cancer Center in North Carolina to have this designation. UNC Lineberger has been rated 'exceptional' by the NCI in its most recent reviews. The opportunities for both clinical practice and research are extensive and also leverage the excellence and proximity of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Gillings School of Global Public Health. UNC Lineberger is the academic home to the cancer programs, the clinical home is the North Carolina Cancer Hospital, a 320,000 square-foot dedicated cancer hospital opened in 2009 and across the street from UNC Lineberger. UNC Lineberger physicians have been offering multidisciplinary, patient-centered care for more than a quarter century, giving patients the benefit of medical and patient support specialists in one place, often in one visit. UNC's system has been used as a model by other cancer centers and oncology programs across the nation. The Neuro-Oncology program boasts an established clinical practice comprised of a neuro-oncologist, neurosurgeons with special expertise and interest in brain tumors, dedicated radiation oncology physicians with research and clinical expertise in fractionated and stereotactic radiosurgery, and a growing medical neuro-oncology practice working closely within this multidisciplinary structure. There is a robust clinical trials portfolio, a centralized clinical trials office providing broad research support, and access to the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative and the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements An M.D. is required for this position. Candidates should be board eligible or board certified in Neurology. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Ideal candidates will be fellowship trained in Neuro-Oncology or have similar experience in the care of brain tumor patients.
