Job Summary The Clinical Start-Up Specialist works collaboratively to assist with launching new research development initiatives and coordinate research development ac vi es. This position initiates and nurtures critical partnerships and alliances throughout the institution's Clinical Research enterprise and serves as the primary liaison to pharmaceutical industry partners and other external stakeholders. Coordinates new protocol review and start up activities. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of protocol requirements and good clinical practices as set forth by federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Initiate and nurture critical partnerships and alliances throughout the institution's research enterprise, institutional partners, and pharmaceutical industry and other external partners to increase institutional research competitiveness. Serve as the primary liaison to pharmaceutical industry partners and sponsors to help ensure evaluation and deployment of new research opportunities. Manage and complete study start-up activities to include completion of feasibility and other questionnaires, scheduling and coordination of pre-study meetings, study qualification visits, and assisting with assigning study coordinator resources Work closely with the start-up team to coordinate all new protocol review and initiation activities, including with the regulatory and contracts/billing teams. Serves as a liaison with designated service providers to ensure successful deployment of protocol requirements. Accountable for scheduling and coordination of all visits to the HCCR, including PSVs, SIVs, monitoring visits, and with MSLs and other research partners. Independently responsible for the initial entry and maintenance of protocol specific documents and tracking information within the Clinical Trials Management System. Performs all other duties as assigned. Required Education/Experience Associate's degree in related field. Three (3) years' experience with clinical research. May accept a combination of education and experience. Preferred Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience in clinical research management. Training or experience in the oncology field. Clinical Research Professional Certification. Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Easily handle multiple projects simultaneously, working both independently and as a team member. Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy. Effective time management and organizational skills. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, both in person and over the phone with the ability to communicate complex information to an audience in an understandable manner. Ability to work well independently with research partners, investigators, participants, and staff with minimal supervision. Possess strong skills for meeting competing deadlines, prioritizing, and supporting the investigative team. Demonstrated flexibility and initiative in a dynamic work environment. Establish, nurture, and maintain productive relationships with internal and external audiences. Working Environment Standard hospital, clinic, and office environment.
