Job Description

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology of Children's Specialty Group (CSG), PLLC at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a ninth board-certified/eligible Pediatric Hematology-Oncology physician to join our expanding team. Candidates with special interest in Hematology are preferred. Physicians of CSG base their practice at CHKD, Virginia's only freestanding, full-service Children's Hospital. Our 16-bed inpatient Hematology/Oncology unit and dedicated outpatient center provide comprehensive care for patients across the full spectrum of hematologic and oncologic disorders. Physicians hold academic appointments through the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences program at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) at Old Dominion University, where they participate actively in teaching medical students and residents. Faculty are encouraged to engage in scholarly work, quality improvement, and clinical research. The Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at CHKD follows more than five hundred childhood cancer patients, averaging seventy new oncology diagnoses annually. We are an active member in good standing within the Children's Oncology Group (COG). We care for over four hundred children with sickle cell disease, hundreds of children with coagulation defects, and hundreds more with other hematologic diagnoses. We collaborate with numerous sub-specialty colleagues in our comprehensive, multi-disciplinary programs in Sickle Cell, Hematology-Gynecology, Vascular Anomalies, Neuro-Oncology, and Cancer Survivorship. We are active participants with the National Alliance of Sickle Cell Centers, the North American Pediatric Aplastic Anemia Consortium, and are a certified Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment Center. We are an active site for CAR-T cell therapy and are actively building our to launch a gene therapy trial for patients with sickle cell disease. We have an integrated palliative care program in ongoing partnership with Edmarc Inc., the nation's first pediatric hospice, which provides exceptional supportive care services in the homes of our high-risk hematology and oncology patients. We have an outstanding research office staff. Investigator initiated, industry and cooperative group clinical research is supported and encouraged. Salary and benefits are highly competitive.
