Clinical Research Management Department:
Medicine | Center for Clinical Research Management The College of Medicine (COM) Center for Clinical Research Management (CCRM) consists of over 400 faculty members and 300+ staff members from 18 Departments within the COM. The Manager of Clinical Research Finance contributes to the development and execution of the organization's mission vision and values and strategic plan. The CCRM is committed to providing the community/region it serves with high quality services in non-cancer research. Position Summary Reporting to the Senior Director and the Associate Director of Clinical Research Finance, the Manager's role is focused on ensuring the strategic and financial success of the CCRM in the provision of clinical trials within the groups that are overseen by the CCRM. This position's responsibilities are guided by the overall strategic direction set forth by the COM as well as the CCRM senior leadership team. The Manager will oversee the daily financial operations within the CCRM Finance Office which includes sponsor protocol review and budget creation, negotiation, and approval for therapeutic and device clinical trials; calendar building in Oncore, timely patient visit entry from CCRM affiliated groups, reviewing contract language for discrepancies; supervising staff to include work allocation, training, hiring and onboarding, problem resolution, performance evaluation, recommendations for personnel actions, and team building; monitor and provide oversight of contract changes; and monthly invoicing through Oncore; tracking payments and following up on receivables due to the organization; providing oversight of receiving clinical research costs of ancillary services as needed to study teams; ensuring quarterly financial reporting to clinical research teams is completed by specific deadlines, working cooperatively with CCRM Operations and Regulatory Offices;. works cross-functionally with the study teams, including Principal Investigators, clinical research staff, and all ancillary services, and study sponsors throughout the project lifecycle; works with CCRM Leadership to determine CCRM Finance staffing needs; participates in the development of financial process improvements and policies. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree in relevant financial field or equivalent experience. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in relevant financial field or equivalent experience required. 5 years' experience in financial accounting or budgeting required. Previous financial experience in a healthcare environment required. Previous supervisory or lead experience required. Microsoft Excel, Oncore, and Workday proficiency required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen. Additional Desired Qualifications 8 - 12 years' experience in financial accounting or budgeting; considerable research budget and contract management experience at a public academic research institution desired; experience negotiating therapeutic and device clinical trial budgets preferred; knowledge of OSU Office of Sponsored Programs research accounting policies and procedures desired.
