CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Research Support provides program support to facilitate research. Furthermore, the incumbent oversees research operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with applicable regulations.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS 1.
Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data and maintaining databases. 2. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures and ensures all research is undertaken according to best practices. 3. Provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior research staff and students. 4. Conducts meetings with research and other staff, outside agencies, and other applicable organizations and ensures functions are coordinated in a timely and accurate manner. 5. Provides technical and program support and resolves operational problems. 6. Assists in the preparation and publication of manuscripts and other program-related documents and reports. 7. Stays abreast of developments in the field which may impact department functions. 8. Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research. 9. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

Optimizes day-to-day operations and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
Organizational Development:
Ability to implement strategies to improve organizational effectiveness, engagement, and manage change.
Financial Oversight:
Knowledge of financial operations and management.

Ability to create and maintain a cohesive and productive team environment, build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with others.
Technical Proficiency:
Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions 1.
Regulatory & Protocol Management:
Oversee all regulatory documentation and protocol implementation for the ECHO study. Collaborate with the PI to maintain the regulatory binder, site-specific SOPs, and IRB submissions (local and external). Monitor and ensure the timely implementation of ECHO change memos and protocol updates. Maintain up-to-date training documentation and certification records for all study personnel. Ensure compliance with NIH, UM, and external regulatory requirements. 2.
Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure ongoing compliance with NIH regulations, IRB requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and institutional research policies. Prepare and submit annual progress reports, continuing review applications, and other documentation required by the NIH, University of Miami, and relevant oversight bodies. 3.
Liaison & Communication:
Serve as the primary liaison between the ECHO Coordinating Center and the local cohort site. Communicate updates related to IRB changes, protocol amendments, data implementation strategies, and operational guidelines. Coordinate and disseminate key information to ensure alignment between the local team and national ECHO partners. 4.
Research Coordination & Oversight:
Supervise the documentation, filing, and secure handling of participant source documents. Meet regularly with the PI, research team, and project leadership to ensure progress toward study milestones and deliverables. Support manuscript development, including writing, formatting, and submitting publications in collaboration with the PI. 5.
Meeting Participation & Collaboration:
Attend all required ECHO meetings at both the local and national level, including but not limited to: Monthly core-specific ECHO meetings Ask the DAC and Ask the Lab Core sessions Study Coordinator Collaboration calls Prenatal POD meetings Facilitate and lead internal team meetings to review timelines, regulatory updates, and operational progress. 6.
Travel:
Occasional travel is required for annual in-person ECHO consortium meetings, national trainings, and other collaborative events. This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
