Senior Director, Cancer Clinical Research - Tisch Cancer Center Mount Sinai Health Systems - 3.7 New York, NY Job Details Full-time $186,005 - $279,007 a year 2 hours ago Qualifications Master's degree Team management Full Job Description Description The Senior Director, Cancer Clinical Research at the Tisch Cancer Center (TCC) of Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides strategic, operational, administrative, and financial leadership for cancer clinical research while ensuring compliance with federal, state, institutional, and regulatory requirements. The role supports TCC's mission, research priorities, and strategic initiatives. This position has dual reporting to both the TCC Associate Director of Clinical Research (faculty leadership) and the TCC Associate Director of Administration (department administrator) and collaborates with both leaders to enhance integration and efficiency across clinical research operations. Responsibilities Provides executive administrative leadership for all aspects of cancer-specific clinical research supported by TCC. Advises TCC leadership on strategy, policy, operational and financial performance, and clinical research priorities. Has responsibility for the strategic planning, organization, and oversight of TCC clinical research including the development of strategies for patient recruitment, compliance, performance and quality improvement, operational efficiency, and employee engagement. Develops and maintains the TCC clinical trials infrastructure, providing optimal support to the clinical research community for all cancer-specific clinical trials. Oversees TCC clinical research administrative, regulatory, budget and contract, and operational units, including the clinical research executive leadership team. In partnership with TCC leadership, oversees the fiscal control activities for clinical research. Supervises the development and management of budgets in collaboration with finance administration. Serves as an expert liaison to investigators and Disease Focus Group (DFG) members to advance the quality and efficiency of clinical research. Interacts with pharmaceutical and clinical research organization leaders to promote TCC clinical research and gain access to appropriate clinical trials; interacts with faculty, staff, and other cancer-related organizations to raise awareness of clinical trial offerings. Ensures efficient study start-up, feasibility review, protocol development, activation timelines, and regulatory compliance. Provides oversight of clinical research laboratories, quality programs, training initiatives, research nursing (dotted line), and key committees (PRMC, DSMC). In collaboration with other TCC leaders, creates and implements a comprehensive people strategy that defines roles and responsibilities, success measures, employee development, growth, and engagement. Leads collaboration with IRB, Research Administration, compliance, and auditing offices as well as other MSHS departments. Conduct clinical research leadership meetings to promote communication, collaboration, and performance improvement. Collaborate with MSHS Oncology Service Line to improve research operations and patient experience. Actively engages in the preparations for the P30 Cancer Center Support Grant applications and related activities. Represents TCC clinical research across MSHS and in external forums as needed. Performs related responsibilities as required. Qualifications Master's degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or a related field required. Minimum of 10 years of progressive research, nursing, clinical trials or related experience which include supervisory and managerial responsibilities. Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment; or demonstrated ability to do so. Experience managing multi-site clinical operations, faculty groups, and complex administrative structures Excellent leadership, team building, collaboration, and communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal) skills. Demonstrated knowledge of drug development process. Demonstrated knowledge of research regulations and sponsor operating procedures. Knowledge of and experience with contract and grant application processes. Knowledge of and experience with oncology related programs. Knowledge of clinical research, billing practices, financial analysis, and reporting. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with physicians, researchers, administrators, and supervisors. Previous administrative experience in a matrix organization. Experience with the NCI-designated Clinical Protocol and Data Management operations and Protocol Review and Monitoring System is preferred.
