(AEL) is Florida's largest environmental, chemical, analytical testing laboratory network. AEL has been in business for 30 years and is a leader in the industry with modern instrumentation, computer technology, and employee opportunity. AEL-Jacksonville is a full-service laboratory, performing analysis in organics, metals, wet chemistry, and microbiology. The clientele includes a wide range of consultants, industrial operations, and government agencies. We are currently looking for an entry level Analyst I for our Jacksonville, FL, laboratory. Position is full-time with benefits including paid time off (PTO), floating holiday, 7 paid holidays, medical benefits paid 60% by AEL, retirement plan 401(k) with up to 4% match; FSA account available. Short and long term disability, and life term insurance are offered and paid by AEL at no cost to employees. Compensation based on experience. Range $18 - $20/hr.
Schedule:
Weekends required The position will be performing testing of drinking water, wastewater, soil, and other matrices using GC and GC/MS instrumentation. Testing performed can include a wide range of EPA methods, including EPA 8260, 8270, 8081, 8082, 8011, FL-PRO, 624, 625, 608, 524, and 525.2.
Requirements:
BA or BS Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or some science field Two (2) years' experience in a commercial environmental laboratory certified under TNI or equivalent program is preferred Above experience must have been in a commercial environmental laboratory certified under NELAP/TNI or an equivalent State program. College course work, grant work, or research work will not count toward this experience requirement. Additional Selection /
Hiring Criteria:
Experience with TurboChrom, Horizon LIMS, Shimadzu GC/MS, PerkinElmer GC, EISC, and Microsoft Office preferred but not required.
Employer will perform testing:
standard written test of basic chemistry, math, EPA/DEP/DOH methods, and questions to test industry knowledge. Reference checks will be conducted. College transcript is required prior to employment. Required experience and/or degree detailed in job description above required to be documented on the resume in order for applicant to be considered. Applicants without the specific experience and/or degree will not be considered.
Duties and responsibilities:
Follow established SOP's and adhering to state, federal and other accrediting body requirements, prepare and process samples, and collect information about the composition of substances to support the analytical testing needs of clients, for such purposes as quantitative analysis, and QC requirements Prepare necessary standards, solutions, reagents, media, and samples for sample analyses Utilize specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation to process and analyze samples Accurately record observations and data and basic interpretation of data Maintain the integrity of procedures and record professional activity for peer review Maintain accurate, up to date logs, notebooks and equipment records Familiar with Horizon LIMS Software. Perform necessary laboratory administrative functions such as filing paperwork, photocopying, reviewing of data, and entering data into Horizon LIMS Knowledge of common office software and other pertinent computer software. Knowledge of basic laboratory protocols. Skill in calibrating equipment. Skill in communicating, both verbally and in writing. Skill in analytical thinking, methodical and systematic approach. Ability to follow SOPs and reference methods. Ability to follow instructions.
