The primary focus of this position is to get to know our guests, create and maintain good relationships and circulate around the Dining Room and among program spaces to help maintain a calm atmosphere wherein our guests and staff feel safe. The Safety / De-escalation Specialist will perform all duties in a trauma informed manner taking into consideration both the individual and collective good. In collaboration with other staff, the Safety / De-escalation Specialist ensures the atmosphere in the building reflects Face to Face values and allows for excellence in service delivery daily. This position is Part Time 9am - 3 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Tuesday 10am - 2pm 28 hours per week
Required:
Holidays (Thanksgiving & Christmas), monthly staff meetings and annual staff retreat
Rate:
commensurate with experience and education ($20-22/hour)
Responsibilities:
  • Ready and willing to contribute to creating a vibrant and welcoming environment, positively engaging with guests, volunteers, co-workers, and partners with respect and genuine enthusiasm
  • Welcome each guest in a genuine manner that reflects the hospitality of Face to Face.
  • Maintain an active and aware presence throughout the building
  • Observe interactions and enhance the experience for guests by making sure that potential conflicts are averted
  • Promote a peaceful environment and de-escalate any conflicts in a trauma informed manner
  • Enhance an environment of teamwork, positive energy, and collaboration by promoting an atmosphere of unity and fairness
  • Share all pertinent information regarding day-to-day activities and issues with supervisor in a timely manner
  • Any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization's values
  • Exhibit in daily actions the mission and values of Face to Face with
Hospitality, Mutuality, and Transformation Requirements:
  • High School or equivalent / College degree preferred
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Some mental health or social work training or experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated de-escalation skills
  • Willingness to receive on-going training in de-escalation attitudes and skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
