Job Description

Position Summary:
Seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance programs related to industrial wastewater, stormwater management, and emerging contaminants. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting inspections and monitoring activities, managing environmental data, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to protect water quality and support operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain industrial wastewater compliance programs, including inspections, permitting, monitoring, reporting, and enforcement activities. Conduct facility assessments, wastewater sampling, investigations, and compliance evaluations for industrial users. Review environmental reports, monitoring data, permit applications, and technical documentation for regulatory compliance. Support development and implementation of operating procedures, compliance programs, and pollution prevention initiatives. Manage stormwater compliance activities, including inspections, monitoring, sampling, corrective actions, and recordkeeping. Coordinate environmental sampling programs and work closely with laboratories, consultants, and regulatory agencies. Monitor emerging contaminants, evaluate environmental data trends, and assist with compliance planning and reporting requirements. Analyze laboratory results, maintain environmental databases, prepare technical reports, and recommend corrective actions when needed. Track regulatory developments and provide guidance on environmental compliance requirements and program improvements. Support cross-functional teams by providing environmental expertise and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a related discipline. 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance, wastewater treatment, industrial pretreatment, stormwater management, environmental monitoring, or related programs. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, wastewater processes, sampling procedures, and compliance reporting. Experience conducting inspections, environmental investigations, compliance audits, and data analysis. Familiarity with emerging contaminant monitoring programs, industrial user oversight, pollution prevention, and source reduction strategies. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, GIS applications, environmental databases, and data management tools. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills. Ability to interpret technical documents, environmental regulations, laboratory data, and engineering reports.
